COURSE OVERVIEW

Helping Clients Navigate Sexual Consent

This two-hour course will feature in-depth exploration of the elements that make up a consenting sexual experience, as well as identify many of the sociocultural myths and premises that contribute to a murky understanding of consent.

Topics will include affirmative consent, consent versus cooperation, ethical versus legal definitions of consent, helping clients identify boundaries around consent, and facilitating meaning-making around consenting and non-consenting experiences.

Community resources for both survivors and perpetrators will also be discussed.

2 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, LCATs, NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.
